Training Programme

Private Distribution Systems

Venue and date to be arranged

Introduced under the PWS Regulations 2009, PDSs are a new problem for local authorities and supply owners. PDSs now have to be identified, reported and risk assessed. This is a new responsibility for the local authority regulator and the supply owner. RH Environmental, suppliers of Regulatory Information and Management Systems (RIAMS), offers this one day, classroom-based course (09.30 – 16.30) to provide essential advice and guidance.

This course will contribute to the attendee’s competence to undertake risk assessment and monitoring of Private Distribution Systems. It is essential for PDS owners and regulators.

The course covers the relevant legislation (PWS Regulations and Water Fittings Regulations) and the current guidance. It will examine in detail the factors to be accounted for in the risk assessment process and the monitoring protocols that are derived. The risk assessment process must be undertaken by a competent person as monitoring is only decided by the results of the risk assessment. The course will include considerations with regard to identifying suitable parameters for wholesomeness and safety.

The course will also cover the need for water safety plans and their contribution to the risk assessment process.

The trainer, David Clapham, is uniquely placed to provide this course. As well as having 20 years experience in PWS, David runs the PWS Glee Club, an email group of over 400 EHPs, where PWS problems are raised and answers provided by the group, if David can’t answer them first.
